Welcome to St. Alexander Church!

For many of you, this may be your first time receiving our weekly Witness Bulletin update, and I hope you find it insightful. In this email, you'll discover our top three items of interest, along with links to our website for even more information. Our parish is buzzing with activity as we learn to embrace our roles as disciples of Christ.

As your pastor, I’d like to highlight a few important initiatives:

  1. Support for the Homeless: Our St. Vincent de Paul store is in urgent need of donations to assist the homeless during this cold weather. Many items, including tents, sleeping bags, and blankets, are often stolen. If you have any unused items, please consider donating them at St. Vincent de Paul, located at 51 East Main St., Welland. Old suitcases are also helpful for storing and transporting their belongings.

  1. First Communion Preparation: We are launching a new First Communion preparation program on Saturday, February 15th, at 4:00 PM, prior to the 5:00 PM Mass. These sessions will last about 45 minutes and will occur every other week until Easter. If you know anyone who is not enrolled in St. Alexander School but wishes to receive First Communion, we encourage them to participate. Additionally, I invite any Grade 8 students interested in being confirmed with our parish on May 7th to reach out to me or the parish office.

  1. Upcoming Special Observances:

World Marriage Day: On February 9th, I will offer a special blessing for all married couples after my homily during the weekend Mass.

World Day of the Sick: On Tuesday, February 11th, I will provide the anointing of the sick following the Mass.

Lastly, we are excited to continue sign-ups for small groups, which will begin the first week of Lent. A heartfelt thank you to our small group hosts for their generosity and hospitality. We currently have over 100 participants, and there is still plenty of space for more!

Thank you for being a part of our community. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

Fr. Paul
