[Father Paul]

There is so much happening here in our parish! I love that we are also so focused on becoming disciples of Jesus. Here are a couple of items I’d like to draw your attention to:

Lenten Small Groups: Keep signing up! We have over 100 signed up so far, which is wonderful. Sign-up sheets are located in the Vision Cafe. I have joined a small group myself; I hope you take a moment to do so yourself. Small groups start the week of Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is March 5th.

First Communion: We are planning to enhance our first communion program by holding special sessions on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm, before the 5:00 pm Mass starting on Feb. 15th. All first communion children will be invited. We especially invite children who are interested in first communion who do not attend St. Alexander School or who are not in grade 2. Please contact the office if you have not yet registered your child, and we will follow up with you. We have two first communion Masses: April 27th and May 4th.

Feast of the Presentation of the Lord: Masses this weekend celebrate Christ as the light to enlighten the nations. I will bless all your candles at the beginning of Mass this weekend. Jesus is the light of the world.

Finally, February 2nd is also the World Day of Consecrated Life: The purpose of the day is “to help the entire Church to esteem ever more greatly the witness of those persons who have chosen to follow Christ by means of the practice of the evangelical counsels” as well as “to be a suitable occasion for consecrated persons to renew their commitment and rekindle the fervor which should inspire their offering of themselves to the Lord” (St. John Paul II, 1997).

I will be away from February 4th - 7th. Fr. Aji Verghesi will be saying the weekday Masses in my absence. Please contact the office for emergencies.
