Bishop's Letter



 

The Diocese has arranged for a Diocesan Holy Year Pilgrimage to Rome October 16-24, 2025. The Bishop will be leading the group through the Holy Doors of St. Peter’s Basilica and to visit the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who will be canonized on April 27, 2025, among other stops in Italy. A detailed itinerary is on the diocesan website. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to complete the booking form that is attached to the itinerary.


 

The Diocese of St. Catharines is seeking a full-time Financial Assistant. The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of financial accounting (including accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, trial balances and unaudited financial statements), payroll, employee benefits, pension plan, annual charity return and providing bookkeeping support to parishes. Fr. Peter Rowe and Ineke Brinkman will be travelling on a Holy Year pilgrimage May 12 - 23, 2025: The Meuse to the Seine, Catholic and cultural heritage sites in Benelux, Germany, North of France. For more information please see the side bulletin board in the foyer.

To assist parishioners in year-end tax planning, the Diocese is pleased to provide a Donation of Securities Form. Parishioners can make donations of securities to the Parish or Diocese and receive a receipt for income tax purposes for the full market amount of the securities donated. The Diocese covers all costs for the processing of the donation. The Donation of Securities form may be obtained from the parish office or by contacting John O’Brien, CFO, at 905-684-0154 x206 or jobrien@saintcd.com.



Anniversary Mass

Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria  


This year, as we mark our 66th year as a Diocese, the Diocesan Feast Day and Anniversary Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria (3 Lyman Street, St. Catharines) on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 11:00am, by Cardinal-Elect Most Reverend Francis Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto.


Parishioners are invited to attend this special Mass where they will have an opportunity to meet Cardinal-Elect Leo, and to greet Most Reverend Gerard Bergie and priests of the Diocese who will concelebrate the Mass.

Emmaus Young Adult Ministry

Emmaus Young Adult Ministry: If you are a Young Adult between the ages of 18-35, you are invited to join us on Tuesdays at St. Denis Parish (230 Lake Street, St. Catharines) from 7:00pm to 9:00pm

A Lifeline for Troubled Marriage


This program is designed to support marriages in crisis and can be of assistance to couples who have separated but are willing to work on their relationship to help repair the difficulties that exist. Certificate for a Special Anniversary


Bishop Bergie would like to mail a congratulatory certificate to married couples who have celebrated or will celebrate a 25th, 40th, 50th or 60th anniversary in the year 2024. To receive a certificate, please complete a registration form available at the parish office by November 7th.
