FOR EMERGENCIES 905-933-9386

Behold, I make all things new.

We gladly welcome you to our parish, trusting that if you are seeking Christ, you will find Him here; if you are sorrowing, you will receive comfort; if you are troubled in spirit, you will receive the blessing of peace; if discouraged, you will rejoice in hope; if friendless find companionship and Christian love. That these and other blessings may be your portion is our prayer.

-Matthew 28:19

FAQs

  • Click on the registration form and indicate what school your child goes to on the form. Your child is welcome to join either of the two dates for first communion in 2025. In addition, we would like to offer some special classes for your child to help them prepare for first communion. You will be contacted with information and schedules once you submit your form.

  • It depends. First communion is a sacrament of initiation and they are actually joining the Catholic church and becoming catholic. Which is great! However, if you are an active member of another denomination and it is not your intention to actually become catholic, then, out of respect for your beliefs and religious practices, they would not be able to receive communion. They are welcome to join in the first communion ceremony and receive a blessing instead of communion.

  • If your child would still like to receive first communion and become catholic, then they will need to be baptized. There is a baptism ceremony just for this on Sunday January 19th at 2:00 pm. Please indicate this on the form (there is a question about this).

  • Those children who are in St. Alexander school will be prepared by the teacher and the pastor (Fr. Paul). Those who are not at St. Alexander’s school will be asked to attend a few special classes run by one of our volunteers with the support and involvement of Fr. Paul. The goal here is that you and your children are able to enjoy everything that first communion has to offer for their spiritual lives. Additional first communion resources are available online at https://www.dynamiccatholic.com/plus/blessed-seasons.html The videos are available free, and the workbook is also free, you just have to pay shipping.

  • Normally, confession happens before they receive first communion. This year, we are offering a special “first reconciliation” evening on the Friday before their first communion at 5:00 pm. At that moment, priests will be available for individual confession for the children. Parents are welcome to come to confession as well. Please remember the “seal of confession,” that everything the child tells the priest is under the strictest of confidence. They will be prepared for confession as part of their preparation for first communion, and they will practice it in the church in the afternoon as a review for them. This is meant to be a very positive experience for them, an opportunity to cleanse their souls before receiving the bread of life.

Express our faith

First Holy Communion celebrates the real presence of Christ in the bread, wine, and gathered community. It is the most important and more repeated Sacrament of the Catholic life.
